First Steps
We've Only Just Begun...
You’ve made the decision to accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, now what? Your journey as a Christian doesn't
end there. Accepting Christ is only the beginning of a long and fruitful relationship. Like a marriage, we
don’t stop loving the other person at the altar after saying “I do.” Rather, we continue developing that
relationship! God wants the same with us, too.
By nature, we’re relational beings: we desire relationships! And the greatest desire of our hearts is a
relationship with God. Here’s how to get started:
Start Seeking God.
“Seek first his kingdom and His righteousness...” (Matthew 6:33). Through seeking God, you will grow as a Christian, learning to live as God wants us to. God sought us out first. Therefore, to continue the relationship we must reciprocate by seeking Him out.
How exactly can you do that?
1. Start Reading the Bible.
Open the Bible and dive in! It’s God’s Living Word and reading it forms a strong foundation for a living
faith.
2. Get Water Baptized.
There’s more information about this at our Connect Table or you can go to: Water Baptism.
3. Connect with Others at Grace Chapel.
It’s important to connect with other Christians not only at our Sunday gathering, but in some of our smaller group Bible studies, classes, and growth groups. Through these venues, a new Christian can hear clear explanations and find real answers to life’s questions. Let me encourage you to come out to the next New People's Lunch as well as our next Growing Deep Growing Strong Seminar.
4. Begin to Journal.
Writing down what you are learning in the Bible is a great way to learn and process what God is doing in your life.
